Spring And Fall Clean Up
SPRING CLEANUP
Get a jump start on the ever changing season with Newtons Lawn And Land Seasonal clean up Services.
During a spring clean up, the whole property gets cleaned up. Although you think not much is happening during the winter months, there are often weeds and other debris, including leaves and even garbage, that have accumulated throughout the winter that must be removed. With those unwanted items removed, the property is left with a fresh, clean look that’s ready to take on the fresh start that spring provides.
REDEFINE PLANT BEDS
The winter months can be harsh on bed lines. Each spring the bed lines need to be redefined. Redefining the bed lines allows for the mulch to meet the sod and create that fine line between lawn and bed that creates the crisp, finished look at the start of the season to be maintained all season long.
FERTILIZE ALL PLANTS AND SHRUBS
During the spring clean up is when we fertilize all plants and shrubs on the property. The best time to fertilize during the spring season before new mulch is installed – adding the fertilizer right to the soil around the roots. Fertilization during the spring clean up gives the plants a jump start for the season and provides a consistent time to fertilize each year.
NEW MULCH INSTALLATION
Once all of the weeds and debris are removed and fertilizer is applied, we install new mulch to complete the spring clean up for a fresh and clean look. For us, there’s just something about the bright green grass and buds on trees combined with fresh mulch that makes us happy throughout the spring season. And, we’ll admit, it’s tough to make a property look better than it does in the spring right after a clean up.
FALL CLEANUP
If you need to prepare your lawn for the cold winter months, autumn is the ideal season. When you take the time to clean up your yard and care for it, you can enjoy a lush, healthy lawn during springtime. This is why it helps to know about the fall yard maintenance checklist.
Fall Yard Clean Up Checklist
• Remove Any Debris•
Rake your yard to remove dead leaves, twigs, and other debris that may prevent growth. This is because organic wastes, including weeds and leaves, often provide a safe ground for pests such as mice.
• Take Out Dead Trees and Shrubs•
As part of your fall yard clean up routine, check for signs of life. If you do not see green under the bark when you scratch it, the tree may be dead. The best way to deal with a dead plant is to cut and dig it out before the onset of winter.
• Mow the Yard•
Be sure to water and mow your lawn as required. This will ensure the grass can withstand the cold temperatures and protect its overall health.
• Aerate the Lawn•
Heavy organic debris and excess thatch under the grass can negatively affect its health. It can starve the roots from essentials such as water, air, and minerals. Aerating your lawn helps to remove thatch and beautify your grass.
• Add Fertilizer•
The morning dew and cooler temperatures are ideal conditions for fertilizing your lawn. They help ensure your grass has a stronger root system.
• Mulch and Rake•
Mulching in the fall season helps to prevent soil erosion and suppress the growth of weeds. Ensure that your plants have a layer of mulch around 2 – 3 inches to help them thrive during the winter months.
